Frequently Asked Questions
What is SummaFit?
SummaFit is a clean, local-first app designed for daily nutrition tracking. It allows you to monitor your calories, macronutrients (protein, carbs, fats), water intake, and body weight logs without any ads, accounts, or mandatory cloud servers.
How does local-first storage work?
All tracking logs, favorites, and settings are saved directly in your iPhone's local sandbox storage. Your profile settings are encrypted with AES-GCM. No tracking data is uploaded to outside servers, keeping your privacy secure.
Does the app require a login or account?
No. You don't need to register, create a password, or sign in with an email. Once you download the app from the App Store, you can start tracking your food and water intake immediately.
How does the barcode scanner lookup food?
When you scan a barcode or search for a product, SummaFit contacts Open Food Facts, a public, collaborative database of food products. The query sends only the scanned barcode to retrieve product info. If a product isn't found, you can easily log it manually.
Can I sync my data with Apple Health?
Yes. Apple Health integration is fully optional. If you grant permissions, SummaFit can automatically read active energy (calories burned), steps, and weight trends. It can also write your logged water, dietary energy, and macronutrients back to the Health app.
How can I export or back up my data?
You can export all your logged data as a clean JSON file directly from the app Settings. You can save this file to your device's Files app, iCloud, or share it. To clear your data, you can delete it from the Settings or simply delete the app.
